  • Thankful

I seriously believe the smartest thing I did all day today was to wake up early, sit, BREATHE, and pray for the upcoming day. Granted it was another usual packed Thursday w/ classes, orchestra, and a calc prelim, I think it went relatively well.

Today, I experienced a new side of school that I had never encountered before. As I walked to class, there was an extremely chilly but contained wind, a couple rays of sunshine, and patches of snow on the ground! It mostly was accumulated on the grass and on the tops of cars and the dorms but it was really cool. I complained about how cold the rain, insanely strong wind, and sleet/snow hit our campus the last two days, but this morning was completely peaceful and quite beautiful.

I have been listening 'Thankful' by Mary Mary which was introduced to me by a guy on Campus Crusade's Praise team. The lyrics are as followed:

Lord i'm thankful for my blessings
    everything that you gave
Times when danger was around me
    My life lord you saved
Where would I be without your love
Where would I be without your grace
You didn't have to do it
    but I'm glad you did

Can't pretend that what I got
I got it on my own
    Every move that i made
Can't say I never been wrong
When I fell you picked me up again
Thought I brought it on myself
I can always depend on you
    Whenever I need help

Looking around, I am so thankful that I have survived the first months of college studies and life. Although it has definitely been painful, I have met some unique, amazing, and insanely smart new friends while growing closer with old ones. I think I understand why people change so much after college since they are challenged in every possible aspect of their life at one place with others experiencing the same things. Thinking about it, I feel so ... old. I always looked up to my older friends in college thinking that it was still so far away...It is definitely awesome here though. I get the chance to see and hang out w/ friends each day, eat and do homework with them, and go to church together as well! Definitely can't ask for much more haha

Calc prelim today went much better than last time. Hopefully the mean of this test isn't anywhere near a 36.... (I actually have a feeling it might be much higher  which could be both good and bad..). Chemistry is sad..Zax is completely horrible as a teacher ...*sigh* Speaking of which..this problem set is annoyingly hard...and I think I'm going to sleep and try to do it tomorrow morning :/...see how that goes

I need to remember to put on lotion for my hands and chapstick...both are getting extremely dry thanks to this weather... and they've even started to bleed :[ ..not good not good!
I always thought that thermal underwear (the super thin leggings under jeans) were stupid and an odd piece of clothing...until now. I have discovered that without them, my legs would probably freeze. Interesting :]

Halloween tomorrow...CRU tomorrow!! and capture the flag in the arts quad!!
    I am excited :D
    but sleepy
    peace.

    dear xanga,

I figure only a select few individuals who still actually read their subscriptions will be reading this entry, but I was inspired last night by larry to write one today :D

Come to think of it, this is my first weblog entry in college!! Exciting stuff haha...
I am currently "studying chem" in RPCC (robert purcell community center) in the heart of north campus at Cornell. This sacred refuge for hungry/studying freshmen is open until two although I don't think I have stayed long enough to be kicked out...yet. I have discovered that the F'real tropical smoothies and chicken parm. wraps are really good! <3 Also...Cornell has REALLY good apples...it's so weird since I never really liked apples until I came here but yeah..they are amazing

Classes are going ok..Chemistry is sort of kicking me in the butt and math is decent I guess. I have met some pretty crazy awesome people here though :D

Orchestra is pretty fun...It's a little bit of a change since I'm doing chamber orchestra vs. symphony..but it's going okie so far. Our conductor is hilarious and there are some really obnoxious people (as usual in an orchestra), but some really cool people as well :)
Violin lessons are intense...my teacher has such high expectations and it's just hard being in his presence cause he's so freaking good...he's going on a tour for the next two weeks to japan o___o; amazing amazing

The weather forecast said there is a 30% chance of snow tomorrow ... and its only the middle of october >_< ..and I heard it's supposed to snow until march haha ...

Well..i should go back to studying chemistry *sigh*...

Let the Praises Ring: The Best Worship Songs of Lincoln Brewster

this summer has definitely been the strangest summer EVER...
no insane practicing for the upcoming orchestra camp, no 3 hours in the scorching summer sun to prepare for the fall tennis season,  no SAT/AP prep to be done...man what a summer..

This summer has been far from ordinary..starting with a Japanese class that I've been taking @ westvalley (from 8AM to 10!!)..I can't believe I signed up for a class that makes me wake up at 6:30 each morning ...(traffic on 85N at 7 is ridiculoussss)...
at any rate, I've also been tutoring my lil cousins, a sophomore at cupertino hs..and have been teaching violin! FUNFUNFUN! she's gotten better which makes me happy hehe

I am crazy excited for orchestra camp since I'll be a counselor! and won't have to endure the pain and suffering of seating auditions...although I will miss playing the music ... being called an SJYS alum makes me sorta sad..

Church senior road trip (short-distance road trip) outta be fun! ..once we FINALLY settle on what we're doing haha
and I finally got a chance to help out at VBS which has been fun so far!

it's hard to believe that, in a little over a month, I will be on a plane with my family to the opposite side of the US...leaving everything from InNOut and the gazillion Westvalley Malls, to a beautiful lake/park based college that is known for not really having anything else there...well, it is a college town and a 3 hr. (or so) bus ride to NYC and I'm sure I'll be too busy studying to really care..

I seem to be experiencing 'ups and downs' in my desire to leave to go to college. One day, I'll feel so excited that I want to be shipped off immediately!...when another day I'll feel downright terrified to leave... I guess as the day approaches, these feelings will polarize more, but eh, I'm sure I'm not the only senior experiencing this feeling right now haha..

prayer request for Richard Sim and his family...
RIP Richard...we'll miss you at camp this year

  • tireeeed!
just flew in from the east coast this morning (around 12 am). Hit Cornell on Wednesday, and Carnegie Mellon on Thursday (I've NEVER flown so much in the course of 3 days this much before lol..).
AKA the longest few days of my life, but totally worth it

I am officially going to Cornell!!!
How I'm paying for it...different story, but I'll probably be working along w/ a combination of student loans etc..
but that's ok I'll get through somehow. I'm SOO excited and want to be in college now haha.
*sigh* must wait until after summer lol

Planning on majoring in Biological Engineering, Minoring in Biomedical Engineering
I really want to either double major/minor in Music although I'm not sure whether I'll be majoring/minoring or if that is all just potential suicide LOL. Either way, it'll be good!! yay!

Only thing is Cornell is really far...and really cold...
    but absolutely beautiful
    can't wait

  • yay now legal
Whitney and April attacked my room and decorated every wall, door, window etc with post-it notes
    those stinkers :P haha

well March Madness is a lot closer than I thought...I wasn't expecting letters from colleges back until much later in March/early April but March 6, I received USC and March 8, Cal-Tech...Well...acceptance and rejection (relatively), which is cool. At least I'm in somewhere even if it IS like Presentation + Bellarmine = Santa Clara but in LA (aka USC). or aka University for Spoiled Children haha.
As for Cal-tech haha oh well I kinda was expecting rejection since that school is like crazy haha in a nutshell

Currently in love with America's Best Dance Crew, House, Without a Trace, and Numb3rs!

Discovered that my guitar looping station also loops my keyboard so I have been putting together random (crappy) compositions and arrangements. I just did the one playing (I could sing of your love forever), which didn't turn out too bad if I don't say so myself
